The field for State Q’s just got even tighter…

Girls:

Erica Williams of Batavia extended her undefeated shot put season to 8 wins by blasting the shot put field as usual with a 39-6.

Eleonore Grant of Red Creek who tends to win anything she enters, hurdles, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, picked triple jump tonight and won with a 35-4.75.

Amanda Burkey of Fariport and Joanna Heath of West Irondequoit cleared 5-4 in the high jump to put them one inch ahead on the leaderboard of Marion’s Mackenzie Strutz and Mendon’s Natalie Meyer.  All four of those girls will be chasing Vicotria Shaffer of Rush Henrietta who cleared 5-6 last week.

Gabrielle Sherwood of Livonia won the vault with 9-6, but Hilton showed some serious depth with Zoe Camillaci and Stephanie Boula clearing 9-0, and Sarah PirnieShannon Mason and Sadie Wolters clearing 8-0 .

Janessa Matthews of Fairport won the long jump with 15-3.

Boys:

Two more vaulters were added to the already tightly packed field of 13-footers with Gates-Chili sophomore Ryan Ellis and Canandaigua‘s Sam Harding both clearing 13’.  Now there are 6 boys at 13’, plus Gates’ Jeremy Bartula at 13-4, and Gates’ Jacob Trieste came really close on his attempts at 13’.  So that’s 8 boys all jumping about the same height (the State Standard of 13’) vying for 3 spots at State Q’s, so be ready for careful accounting of misses, and probable jump-offs.  Gates’ vault coach Bob Bartula had 4 boys clear 12’6 in one meet (again), with two of them clearing 13 and the other two coming very close.

Desmond Mobley of Greece Olympia won the high jump by 6” with his 6-4 leap.

Ismail El-amin of Wilson Magnet won the long jump with a 21-10.25 and Glen Hines of East joined the 21 foot club with a 21-1.25.

Alijhiah Minor of Canandaigua won the triple jump with a 42-2.5.

Kyle Podgers of Hilton won the shot put with a 47-9.5.
