Katie Lembo of Penfield ran a 10:08.48 for the fastest 3000M in the state and 2nd fastest in the nation (based on what’s reported on Milesplit as of Dec. 29th 7PM). This far exceeded the Gold Standard National Elite Mark of 10:37.45. Friday night at RIT Valerie Palermo of Webster Schroeder won the 3000 with a 2nd best mark of the season of 10:31.01.
Eileen O’Hara of Webster Thomas again scored double National Elite marks in one meet with her 3:05.80 win in the 1000 (first girls 1000 National Elite time in Section V this season), and her 2nd place finish in the 3000 with a 10:34.76. This season O’Hara also has a National Elite time in the 600 and a couple in the 1500.
Madeline Kopp of Spencerport and Hunter Robinson of Victor made the first Gold Standard National Elite marks of the season in the girls 300 with times of 41.14 and 41.21 respectively.
Carnell Noble, Greece Olympia’s sophomore sensation, lowered his 55M leading time to 6.59 which puts him at 5th in the state.
Keith Pease of Greece Athena scored the boys first National Elite time in the 1000 for the season with a 2:38.09 and broke the Brighton Mullen/Ronchetti duo’s hold on the Section V leading times from 600M -3200M.
Amir Rogers of NE/NW clobbered the boys 55 Hurdle field with his 7.73.
Joanna Heath of West Irondequoit jumped a huge 5-4 in the high jump.
Demonica Stanley of Edison Tech smoked the girls 55 field with a 7.38.
Kendall D’Amore of Canandaigua won the 600 with a 1:42.92.
The Girls 4x200 teams of Edison Tech and Pittsford Sutherland had the race of the weekend, and will possibly be the rivalry of this season. Edison Tech girls have long held dominant in Section V sprints, but the Pittsford Sutherland girls are challenging the dynasty this season. They went head to head at RIT and Sutherland broke the 1:52 mark but it wasn’t enough and Edison Tech came out on top with a 1:51.67 to Pittsford Sutherland’s 1:51.96.
