This week I’m looking for state standards and new Section V leaders.
Demonica Stanley of Edison Tech had a big meet achieving state standards in both the 55M and Long Jump. Stanley lowered her Section V leading 55M time to 7.35 and won the long jump at RIT with a 17-5, taking over the Section V lead from Justin Sanders-Schifano of Sodus who made the standard with a 17-4.5 last week. (Imani Obieki and Stanley pictured left to right)

Maddie Kopp of Spencerport won the 55M at Hobart with a time of 7.44 which just matches the state standard and is the 2nd fastest of the season.
Brian Smith of Greece Athena lead a pack of 6 boys making the 55M state standard of 6.74 this week, bringing Section V’s total to 7 boys achieving the 55M standard. At RIT it was Smith (6.50), teammate Terrance Harley (6.67) and Brandon VanderBrook of Marion (6.69). At Hobart Carnell Noble of Greece Olympia won with at 6.60 over Kevin Beasley of Gates-Chili (6.69) and Nicodemus Gambill of East (6.73).
Karmen Auble of Warsaw broke out a huge 11-10 jump in the pole vault beating the Gold Standard of 11-6, Penn Relays standard of 11' 0-1/4" and tying for 2nd place on the NYS leaderboard. The bar almost stayed on at 12-1 which would have been the leading mark in the state. Hilton girls Zoe Camillaci and Sarah Pirnie also made the state standard of 9-6. Camillaci made 10-10 last week.

Katie Lembo of Penfield already had the Section V leading mark and only Penn Relays standard, and only state standard in the 3000, she has the Section V leading mark, only Penn Relays standard, and first of 3 state standards in the 1500. So Friday night she ran the 1000 and made the season’s first sub-3 with a 2:58.31 which is also the first state standard of the season. Lembo’s positions on the New York State leaderboard are 2nd for the 1500, 3rd for the 1000, and 3rd for the 3000. (and she’s only a junior)

Ryan Cribbin of West Irondequoit is improving every week and his shot put throw of 55-6.25 moved him up to 4th on the state leaderboard.
Christine Lyttle of Canandaigua won the 55 Hurdles with a 8.63 and her earlier season mark of 8.50 puts her at 5th on the state leaderboard.

Not quite making the state standards, but making new Section V season bests were:
Alex Kober of Webster Schroedroer with a triple jump of 35-7.75.
Rebekah Champlin of Marcus Whitman with a 1500 Racewalk of 7:31.52

In the relays the boys were burning it up at RIT in the 4x400. Greece Athena, Aquinas, and Marion all beat Rush's season leading mark from last week, and all qualified for Penn Relays. Athena came out on top with a 3:35.72.
