Smith 55m 6.36 extends State Lead, now 6^th in the Nation

Brian Smith of Greece Athena just goes faster and faster.  Today he ran a 6.36 in the 55m which puts him far ahead of NY State rankings 2-4 which are all in the 6.4’s, and closer to the national leader Antonio James of Florida 6.28.   Smiith attributes his success to his coaches: "Coach Scott and Coach Shoemaker have really been working with me on the (starting) blocks and that's what's got my times on a national level".

Katie Lembo of Penfield moved into 3^rd in the state for the 3000m with a 9:50.49 which puts her 24 seconds (at least ½ a lap) ahead of the next best in Section V.  I wonder what she’ll do next year as a senior.  But Lembo can’t do all the races at every meet and…

Eileen O’Hara of Webster Thomas, having taken the season best from Lembo last week in the 1500m, took the season best from Lembo in the 1000m this week with a blazing 2:55.72 for 4^th best in the state.

Keith Pease of Greece Athena and Andrew Mullen of Brighton lowered the boom in the 1000m with times of 2:30.75 and 2:31.06 respectively.  This puts Pease at 5^th and Mullen at 7^th in the state.

Karmen Auble of Warsaw is still the state leader in the vault, she jumped 12' for the 4th time this season, one event only though, so no new marks in the long jump where she's 2nd in Section V, or the shot put where she's 3rd in Section V.

Rubin Owens of LeRoy won the triple jump with a 46-5 which didn’t catch Chauncey Scissum (Rush-Henrietta, 47-1 (2^nd in state)) nor Craig Hardgers (Greece Olympia, 46-9.5,4^th in state), but it was good enough for 7^th in the state.  Section V is kind of dominating the triple jump.

Melissa Tylock of Penfield, Monica Laborde of Mercy, and Alton Minavio of Rush-Henrietta all beat the previous week’s season best in the 1500m Racewalk with performances of 7:23.23 (NYS 11^th), 7:24.84 (NYS 12^th), and 7:26.98 (NYS 15^th).

Mickey Burke of Rush-Henrietta brought the season best time in the 3200m down to 9:26.11 for 11^th best in the state. 

Rush-Henrietta’s girls just killed it in the 600m with Ceara Watson, Sammy Watson, and Alana McDonald taking 1^st (1:38.35), 3^rd  (1:40.57) and 4^th  (1:41.02).   So are they going to kill it in the 4x400m, 4x800m or both? (checked the leaderboard, RH girls have Section V season best in both events).  Maggie Pryslak of Mercy took 2^nd with a 1:38.50.

Alex Kober of Webster Schroeder extended her season best in the triple jump again this week, hitting 35-11 for 20^th in the state.
