Alex Cooper of Rush-Henrietta and Pittsford Mendon’s Boys Team start up right where they left off last year, on top

Alex Cooper of Rush Henrietta  dominated the girls race, as she has dominated the early season, winning today’s race by over 20 seconds to second place Mary Barger of Pittsford Mendon 19:21.71 to 19:42.58.  Megan Curtin of Wayland-Cohocton in the D2 race had the second fastest time of the day with a 19:36.94.

Cooper’s victory and an astounding 4th place finish by R-H’s nationally ranked 400m standout Sammy Watson (she ran 12½ consecutive 400’s today) wasn't followed by enough support in the 4th and 5th spots for R-H to finish in the top 3.  The team winner was Penfield with 4 girls in the top 12, Claire Miller (5), Megan Sedita (7), Tory Fahrenholz (10),  and Sarah Cook (12) with enough support from number 5, 8th grader Megan Gillooly, for the win!  Pittsford Mendon and Fairport took 2nd and 3rd.

Pittsford Mendon’s boys team won D1 over Brighton in second.  Mendon was lead by Griffen Hess who traded the lead with Drew Schmitt of Brighton several times during the last half mile.  In the end, looking over his shoulder, Schmitt held off Hess in a tight finish 16:27.33 to 16:27.70.  Pittsford Mendon was by far the winning team today though with Hess, Isaac Goodman and Henry Burton sweeping 2-4, Evan Feigel (10), Kevin Dooley (12) for a dominating score in a 19-team race.  And...they probably could have lost their top 2 guys and still won because their numbers 6 and 7 were David Azzara (13) and Nathan Lawler (15).  The third best time of the day came from Dylan Servos of Alden (Section 6) in the D2 race with a 16:36.53.

Alden (Section 6) won D2 Girls Team

Batavia won D2 Boys Team,

Addison (Section V near the Pennsylvania border) won both Boys and Girls in D3

In total over 2000 boys and girls ran in the races at Victor yesterday, kudos to Bob Goodell and all his staff at Victor for hosting a great event.
