Dave Hennessey has dedicated himself to Section V Track & Field athletes and coaches since he graduated from the University of Rochester in 1974 and began coaching in Monroe County.  Since 1976 he has been the Head Coach at Penfield High School and the Section V Indoor Track & Field Chairman, he is currently the State Chairman for Girls Indoor Track & Field.  His dedication to the sport year-round from Cross Country to Indoor Track to Outdoor Track to Summer Track has benefitted athletes for over a generation across Section V and New York State.

Coach Hennessey was involved in Empire State Games Track & Field from the first one in 1976 and now helps to manage the Rochester Summer Track Series which has been held on Tuesday Nights for longer than Dave’s been around and is now held at Penfield.

I personally enjoyed the quality and quantity of the opportunities afforded to me by Dave’s efforts and his encouragement and guidance when I was in high school (Arcadia 1975-1980) and again when my son was in high school (Brighton 2007-2011).

Congratulations to Dave and to Penfield High School for recognizing his contributions with such a great honor while he’s still out there coaching the kids and organizing the meets for us all.
