Sammy Watson wins Tanski with 2nd best time in the State

R-H Girls 4x100 set Section V Record

After setting State leading marks in the 400 and 800 last week, Sammy Watson decided to try the 1500 since it was the premier event at her home meet and she ran the 4:34.01 for a meet record, SVSB, and 2nd best mark in the state (Julia Zachgo of Shenendowa ran a 4:33.35 today at the Eddy Games in Albany).  The previous night at the Marion Invitational Sammy won the 100 and 200.

Back at Royal Comet, the Rush-Henrietta girls 4x100 relay team of Stephanie Nwachi, Tori Thompson, Lanae-Tava Thomas and Adama Donzo set a new Section V record of 47.90 breaking Edison Tech’s record of 48.06 from 2000.

And they still weren’t done as Lanae-Tava Thomas and Tori Thompson swept the 100 and 200 with Thomas breaking the meet record in both.  Thomas broke her 4th meet record of the day by winning the long jump.

Ceara Watson finished it off winning the 400 with a meet record time.

Rush’s boys had some marks too with Keanu Heedram winning the discus with a SVSB of 156-10 to rank 11th in the state.

And Paul Henry set a meet record in the 800 with a 1:56.32.

As a team Rush-Henrietta won both the boys and girls meets by wide margins.

Brockport freshmen Briana Young threw the discus 124’ to win the meet and rank 9th in the state, 1st among freshmen.

The boys Tanski mile was won by Mike Mallow of Fairport at 4:24.40, but the fastest 1600 of the weekend was run by Isaac Goodman of Pittsford Mendon at the Marion Invitational with a 4:23.77. Fairport freshmen Ben Bulkeley was the next best Section V runner in the 1600 with a 4:29.45

Autumn Albrecht of Brockport set a new SVSB of 10:14.60 in the 3000.

Dawson Bathgate of East Rochester took 2nd in the 3k Steeplechase, but his mark of 9:48.22 is the new SVSB.

8th grader Erica Ellis of Gates-Chili won the pole vault tying the meet record of 11-0.  She’s just 3” off of Karmen Auble’s 8th grade state record.

Greece Arcadia’s boys 4x100 set a SVSB by winning with 43.59.

Alec Rice of Geneseo matched his SVSB winning the high jump at 6-3.

At the Marion Invitational Penfield won the girls and Lockport won the boys.

Christian Johnson of Victor won the shot put and discus and his shot put of 53-04.50 is a SVSB.

Victor's Boys 4x400 set a SVSB of 3:26.71

Matt Barton of Victor won the 110 and 400 hurdles.

Freshmen Nathan Lawler of Pittsford Mendon won the 3200 with a 9:39.14 which places him just ahead of Majd Rouhana of Fairport for the top two freshmen two-milers in the state.

Eddie Ely of Palmyra-Macedon set a SVSB in the 800 with a 1:55.21

Calvary Rogers of Greece Athena won the 400, 200 and took 2nd in the 100.

Pittsford Mendon girls 4x800 set a SVSB of 9:28.32
