Alumni Report - USATF Outdoor Nationals

USATF Nationals is the meet from which the USA's World Championship team was chosen this year, and next year will serve as the Olympic Trials.  

Section V was represented at the meet held June 24-28 in Eugene, Oregon by several alumni.

Miranda Melville, Rush-Henrietta 2007, won the 20,000 meter racewalk (1:36.33.99).  Miranda will be representing the USA at the World Championships in Beijing in August, and the Pan Am Games in Toronto on July 19th. 

Rick Suhr, Spencerport 1986, coached his wife 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Jenn Suhr to her 9th Outdoor Championship in the pole vault with a height of 4.82 (15'9.75"), that's 16 National Championships overall including indoor.  Jenn and Rick are also headed to Beijing in August for the World Championships!

Mike Morgan, Wayne 2012 & current UB student, placed 5th in the Decathlon with a score of 7555 and will represent the USA at the Thorpe Cup in Germany in August.

Amanda Hollis, Brockport 2005, husband Mark Hollis, who has competed at the Niagara Indoor Championships at RIT the last two years, placed 5th in the pole vault at 5.50 (18'0.5")

Brycen Spratling, Webster Schroeder 2010 now running professionally for Nike, ran a 45.97 in the 400.

Also... Maddie Kopp, Spencerport 2013 & current Duke student, has been chosen to represent the United States at the World University Games in Korea from July 8-12 in the 400 and 4x400.

and... current Rush-Henrietta student Sammy Watson won the World Youth Trials 800m in 2:04.27 and will represent the USA at the World Youth Championships in Cali, Columbia
